First, if you do not have an impact driver, you are missing out big time!  Not only on the joy of easily driving screws and lags with ease but of also trying to find the best impact bit set.  If you have shopped The Home Depot, Lowes Home Improvement, or even Ace Hardware lately, you will see a pile of these impact rated bit and drill sets sitting by the counter with large sale signs on them.  The price looks so great one has to buy them.

Do They Work?

Each of these sets and brands is set up slightly different with some being more usable than others.  In our experience, the longer bits are the ones that we use the most as we do not like the bit extension and short bits as much as the short bits will slide out of the extension at the absolute worst timing.  That is just our luck!

Most kits only include 5 or 6 longer bits and they up the bit count with 30 to 40 of the smaller bits most would use in a screwdriver.  We do not feel that is a coincidence as they keep you coming back and buying more as you wear out the favorite bits in the set.

Overall, these sets work, but each brand seems to have its own issues.  In our experience, the Milwaukee Shockwave bits always fit a bit loose.  The DEWALT bits are very soft and the Phillips #2 will wear extremely fast.  Bosch makes some excellent impact bits, but the drill bits in each set seem to be sub-par.  Most of these small drill bit sets, even if included with bits are sub-par and made to be thrown away pretty quickly if used in metal.

Overall

We have worked with and used almost every kit out there and they all have some faults.  The ones shown in the video were on sale and hard to pass up this Black Friday.  We hope to see some great comments from you on what you use daily and ways that you avoid purchasing multiple kits when your bits need to be replaced.
