This Test Revealed Some HUGE INFO! First, does a 5 Ah battery power tools for the same time as a different style of 5 Ah battery? The video clearly shows if 5Ah batteries last the same amount. What came out of the testing was crazy. PLEASE NOTE: I ran this test twice to be sure the numbers were correct. I ran it on the 2022 XR 5Ah battery and again on a 2019 XR 5Ah battery to be sure of the results. I did use footage from both runs as I had some recording issues. You might see two battery dates in the video. Technology strikes again and corrupted some video.
So what we found is that the voltage held in the PowerStack when it is dead is MUCH higher than the XR 5 Ah battery. When the XR 5 Ah battery finally turned off it was in the low 12’s for voltage. When the PowerStack turned off it was in the low 16’s. So the PowerStack will deliver a much higher voltage and amp output for the same runtime as the XR 5 Ah. The PowerStack will give you more power in your tools for the majority of the runtime. When some will start to feel a lag in a high output tool with an XR battery, the PowerStack will keep performing like a fully charged battery up until the last 10% of the runtime.
We have a lot more work on this to compare the output of the PowerStack battery. Since most people feel that the 5Ah PowerStack is very comparable to the XR 6.0, we will look at the voltage held by each battery and where the voltage lands as the batteries continue to deplete. If the XR 6 Ah battery performs like the XR 5 Ah battery, then the price DEWALT wants for this battery would make it worth the upgrade!
